How To Do An SEO Audit For Your Business

Search engine optimization or SEO plays an important role in the success of a small business. If you own a small business, consider doing an technical audit for your business website. For this, you must use Screaming Frog, which is one of the best available and effective tools for an optimization audit. You can use other tools like Google Search Console. SEO can be done by using Google Analytics also.

Use Screaming Frog and Google Analytics 

Use Screaming Frog to crawl the site to get information and do the audit. Run Google Analytics and make sure that it is used on your site in each page in the right way. Set conversions for important activities in the site. Ensure that the Analytics has been configured accurately for HTTP / HTTPS.

Check The URL

Analyze the URL of your website. Check if there are any non-ASCII characters in the Overview tab. Also, check if there are any uppercase characters in the URL and change it to lowercase characters.

Check The URL Structure

Ensure that the URL is organized properly in the URL tab. The web pages should be grouped correctly with filing cabinet structure. The URL should display the content and services of the site correctly.

Use Google Search Console

Check if the right protocol and website address is used with Google Search Console in the website or not. The indexed pages should display in the coverage tab correctly. The present sitemap should be included in the Sitemaps tab. The Mobile Usability and Links tab should be correct.

Check The Response Codes

Check if there are success codes in the Overview section of the Response Codes tab in the Screaming Frog crawl. It will appear as 2xx. Find out if there are problems like redirects and 404s. Take steps to resolve the errors.

Correct The Titles

Go to the Page Titles tab, analyze the titles of your web page and optimize it. The title should have the keyword, site theme, location, and branding. It should have 35-65 characters.

Optimize The Headers

Optimize the headers in the site and align it with the titles and names of web pages. It should also have the Meta Description.

Check The Site Speed

Test the speed of your site and make sure that it is fast. Ensure that your site is free from technical problems.

Use Good Meta Description

Check Meta Description tab and ensure that you have used correct and good Meta Description. Make necessary changes and improve it if required.
